The Hon. Minister for Health, Dr. Siale Akauola, met with Mr. Nakhafi Hassan, Alternate Executive Director for the South-East Asia Group at the World Bank Group, as part of his official visit to the Kingdom of Tonga.
The meeting provided an opportunity for Mr. Hassan and the Minister to discuss the progress of the World Bank-supported health development projects under the Ministry of Health, including the Health Enhancement and Resiliency in Tonga (HEART) Project and the regional Pacific Health Systems Improvement and Transformation (PHIT) Project.
Discussions focused on the implementation progress of both projects, key challenges affecting delivery, and practical solutions to address implementation delays over the coming months. The meeting also explored ways to strengthen collaboration and ensure the projects continue to support Tonga's health sector priorities and improve health outcomes for the people of Tonga.
Hon. Dr. Akauola expressed his appreciation for the World Bank's continued partnership and support to Tonga's health sector and reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to working closely with the World Bank to advance the successful implementation of these important initiatives.
Mr. Hassan was accompanied by Ms. 'Ilaisaane Lolo, Advisor to the Alternate Executive Director.
