Alternate Executive Director for the South-East Asia Group, Mr. Nakhafi Hassan, accompanied by Ms. Ilaisaane Lolo, Advisor to the Executive Director, met with Hon. Sevenitini Toumo’ua, Honourable Minister for Revenue and Customs and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Michael Cokanasiga to discuss progress on the Accelerating Trade Facilitation Project (ATFP) and key priorities for strengthening Tonga's trade and customs systems.

The meeting focused on the implementation of the ATFP, which supports the Government of Tonga in modernizing customs and trade processes to improve efficiency, facilitate trade, and strengthen economic resilience. Discussion also includes challenges of digitalizing electronic payment systems, including improving digital infrastructure and enhancing efficient and accessible payment services.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to working together to advance trade facilitation reforms and support Tonga's economic resilience.
