Bilateral Meeting between Hon. Tiofilusi Tiueti, Minister for Finance and V20 (The Vulnerable Twenty Group) team

Suva, Fiji (8th August, 2023)-

The Global Shield Financing Facility was announced in November 2022 by the World Bank Group to help developing countries access more financing for recovery from natural disasters and climate shocks. Hon. Tiofilusi Tiueti – Minister for Finance met with Ms. Sara J. Ahmed- the V20 Global Lead, Mr. Nilesh Prakash- Pacific Advisor for V20 Group and MS Alexandra Mieth- Project Manager, Climate and Disaster Risk Finance (CDRFI), and discussed the facility and the process of accessing the resources. The Ministry of Finance will continue the conversation with the V20 team to develop potential projects for Tonga.
