ACCELERATING TRADE FACILITATION IN THE PACIFIC PROJECT - TONGA
MINISTRY OF INLAND REVENUE & CUSTOMS, GOVERNMENT OF TONGAØ Development Objective: The development objective of the Accelerating Trade Facilitation in the Pacific Project for Fiji, Kiribati, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu is to reduce the time and cost required for cross-border trade in Participating Pacific Island Countries (PPICs).
The project comprises of three components:
1. Customs and border management operations consist of following sub-components: (i) digitizing cross-border trade; (ii) equipment for customs and border agency clearance; and (iii) export readiness capacity building for firms and vocational skills training for individuals.
2. Port operations consist of the following sub-components: (i) equipment and systems for port operations; and (ii) preparatory work for longer-term maritime investments.
3. Project management and regional coordination consists of the following sub-components: (i) project management; and (ii) regional coordination.
