Pacific Healthy Islands Transformation (PHIT) Project
Ministry of Health, Government of TongaØ Development Objective: The development objective of Pacific Healthy Islands Transformation Project is to increase access to quality health services within participating Pacific Island Countries, with a focus on NCD management.
The project comprises of three components:
- Strengthen regional systems to improve access to quality care and essential inputs , has the following sub-components: Enhancing quantity and quality of the Pacific healthcare workforce; Using digital innovations to connect patients, providers and health systems; and Expand access to tertiary care and upgraded training facilities within participating PICs.
- Modernize Fiji’s health System, with emphasis on establishing Networks of Care (NOC) for health promotion, early detection and management of disease, has the following sub-components: Build resilient, person-centered, integrated health service delivery with strengthened capacity to detect and manage NCDs and risk factors in Fiji; and Scale-up gender sensitive community outreach, risk profiling, wellness and behaviour change programs in Fiji.
- Strengthen stewardship, evidence-based decision making and regional learning for quality health systems in PICs, has the following sub-components: Centers of Excellence for promising health systems solutions; and Project implementation management and regional implementation support.
