Pacific Healthy Islands Transformation (PHIT) Project

Ø  Development Objective: The development objective of Pacific Healthy Islands Transformation Project is to increase access to quality health services within participating Pacific Island Countries, with a focus on NCD management.

The project comprises of three components:

  1.       Strengthen regional systems to improve access to quality care and essential inputs , has the following sub-components: Enhancing quantity and quality of the Pacific healthcare workforce; Using digital innovations to connect patients, providers and health systems; and Expand access to tertiary care and upgraded training facilities within participating PICs.
  2.       Modernize Fiji’s health System, with emphasis on establishing Networks of Care (NOC) for health promotion, early detection and management of disease, has the following sub-components: Build resilient, person-centered, integrated health service delivery with strengthened capacity to detect and manage NCDs and risk factors in Fiji; and Scale-up gender sensitive community outreach, risk profiling, wellness and behaviour change programs in Fiji. 
  3.        Strengthen stewardship, evidence-based decision making and regional learning for quality health systems in PICs, has the following sub-components: Centers of Excellence for promising health systems solutions; and Project implementation management and regional implementation support.
