The small community of Matagiake Village were happy to celebrate the opening of their brand new village water supply. Through the undying donor support of the Japanese Government working together with the Ministry of Finance and National planning, through collaborative aid coordination were able to implement a successful water supply project for another Tongan community in desperate need of a clean and reliable water supply and distribution system.
Total aid grant is worth TOP $204,106.94 From the Embassy of Japan represented by his Excellency Dr KazuchikaHamuro. These funds were able to finance a new pump storage house and water pump equipment together with a new perimeter fence, a new solar pump system that will help decrease electricity cost of running and two brand new tank stands with twin 5000 gallon water storage units.
As part of Tonga’s Millennium Development goals to achieve in 2015 is to ensure that the community as a whole has easy access to essential services such as good clean running water.
Lady Si’atukimoana Vaea in thanking the Government of Japan said their commitment towards assisting Tonga through projects such as this would definitely raise the standard of living of ordinary families who live in communities outside of Nuku’alofa.
